Four patterns that stood out

Purple favored Nirvana. Yellow favored Vendor X.

118
patients

Nirvana returned an expired Medicaid policy. Vendor X found no coverage.

Registered as self-pay. Nirvana returned the policy and plan details, so staff know to start re-enrollment. Vendor X found no coverage for 116; for the other 2, it found a Medicaid plan that isn’t behavioral-health eligible.
28
patients

Nirvana explained the failure. Vendor X didn’t.

Both were blocked by the payer, mostly BCBS Texas. Nirvana said the payer was down, so staff know to retry. Vendor X returned a generic error code.
7
patients

Vendor X confirmed active coverage. Nirvana found none.

Nirvana returned no coverage for these patients. Five of the seven are BCBS Texas.
9
patients

Nirvana’s Scan found coverage Vendor X’s Discovery missed.

Vendor X’s Discovery returned nothing for 7 and stalled on 2. Nirvana’s Scan found active coverage for all 9, mostly Medicaid.

Why detail matters

An error code leaves your team at zero. “Medicaid policy expired” starts them at one: the policy, the plan details, and a clear next step.

How to read this test

What it covers

  • One provider, 483 patients, August 2026. Same list through both vendors.
  • The panel skews toward Medicaid.

What it does not cover

  • Answers were compared with each other, not with claim outcomes.
  • Nirvana’s searches ran as separate steps. A live workflow may differ.

Run the same test on your patient file

The most reliable comparison is your own data.

  • Send a sample file, securely and under a BAA.
  • We run it through Nirvana. You run it through your current vendor.
  • We review the differences with you.

Questions

What if my vendor changes ownership?
It’s a good moment to review any vendor. Ask how they use your patient data and what their roadmap is. A test on your own file is the cleanest comparison.
How does Nirvana find coverage when there is no payer on file?
Scan searches by name, date of birth, and zip code. A separate Medicaid search finds Medicaid policies, including expired ones.
Can I see the patient-level results from this test?
No. The data belongs to the provider. In your own test, you’ll see patient-level results for your file.

Results reflect one provider's data from August 2026 and may not apply to your patient mix. Nirvana is not affiliated with Vendor X.
