Hello! My name is Octavia Phoenix, and I am a Pre-Licensed Professional based out of  New York City. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, I am offering both in-person and virtual therapy sessions.

We are all on our own journey of life. It can be tough to navigate through the different stages and transitions which we experience. You do not have to suffer and go through these changes on your own. Together we can create a warm, safe, and confidential space where we can process challenging emotions, develop healthier coping strategies, and help you achieve your goals. The therapeutic alliance and relationship is an important aspect in therapy; therefore I will ensure to create an empathetic, judgment, and bias-free space for us to work together.

I believe that experience in and sensitivity to topics of diversity and multiculturalism are essential skills a therapist must have to understand and create lasting change. My approach to therapy utilizes integrative methods that are both unique and individualized. No one knows you better than you. We can work together to move you along your path.

I specialize in helping individuals, couples, and groups deal with life transitions, self esteem, and trauma and PTSD. I am also trained to work with teens, adults, and elders (65+) with alcohol use, anxiety, career counseling, coping skills, depression, grief, racial identity, school issues, sleep or insomnia, stress, and weight loss.

Some approaches used are Strength-Based Humanistic, and Mindfulness-based techniques. Whether you are just looking for someone to lend an ear or to deal with stress, overwhelming feelings, and experiences, I am here to help!

What can Nirvana do for me?

We handle your mental health insurance electronically and file your claims for free. We also track the status of your claims and ensure they are processed correctly so you don’t have to worry about paperwork or making frustrating phone calls.

How does Nirvana’s mental health billing service work?

We work with your therapist to obtain all the information needed to file your claims. Then we file them electronically each week.

What do I need to do for Nirvana’s service to work for me?

You only need to make sure we have your  most updated insurance information. You don’t need to do anything else!

Can I check how much I will be reimbursed for therapy?

Nirvana has a free tool called the Peace of Mind Coverage Calculator, which estimates your reimbursement amount at the start of the calendar year, when your deductible has been met, and when your out-of-pocket maximum has been reached. You only need to enter the name of the therapist you’d like to see, along with your name, date of birth, and insurance information.

Once I start therapy, when will I be reimbursed?

Once you have met your deductible, your reimbursement will be mailed to you about 4-6 weeks from the date of your first eligible claim. In some cases, this process can take as long as 90 days.

Where will my reimbursement be sent?

Your reimbursement will be mailed to the address on file with your therapist and your insurer. We recommend verifying your address directly with your insurer.

How will I receive my reimbursement?

You will receive your reimbursement by check. Some insurers combine payments for multiple sessions and others send one check per session.

Can I track the progress of my claims as you process them?

Yes! We offer a free product called the Client Portal, which allows you to do exactly that. You may be invited by your therapist, but you can independently register here. With the client portal, you can view the exact status of your claims and reimbursements.
