Hello! My name is Kim Meijer, and I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist based out of New York City. I am an alumni of Pacifica Graduate Institute. I provide both virtual and in-person sessions at my office on Union Square in Manhattan.
Do you feel frustrated and stuck? Wondering if you are on the right track? Do you want change but don't know what kind of change or how to get there? Are you going through a life transition or crisis? Starting therapy is a courageous endeavor. Central to my work is my collaboration with you, supporting your emotional life, helping you building resilience, connecting with your true feelings and desires, cultivating your joy and creating a meaningful life with loving relationships.
I specialize in working with teens and adults with issues related to addiction, anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and shame. I am also trained to help individuals, parents, couples and families with chronic illness, family conflict, fertility, pregnancy (prenatal and postpartum) self-esteem, school problems, trauma, ptsd and issues related to sex and money. I have experience working with members of the LGBTQ+ community, multi cultural and blended families.
Drawing from my training and life experience we’ll work together towards letting go of unhealthy patterns, aligning with your authentic self and achieving your goals. A few therapies I use in my practice include Depth psychology, Family Systems, Integrative Psychology, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic, Psychoanalytic and Somatic Experiencing. Part of my training includes Emotionally Focused Couples Counseling (EFT) with Sue Johnson, studies with Esther
Perel. I am certified in Contemplative Psychotherapy (Nalanda Institute), Creative arts therapy (The Kint Institute), SEP (Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Trauma Healing Institute) and Yoga teacher (Svaha yoga, Amsterdam & The Shala, NYC). I am also bilingual, and can conduct our therapy sessions in both English and Dutch.
Each individual has the potential to heal and experience freedom. My role is to support and guide this sacred process in a trusting and safe environment. As Rumi said “The wound is the place where the Light enters you”. I will be your ally as we uncover and heal your wounds and blockages, unstick repetitive patterns, set up healthy boundaries, navigate new territories, and learn new skills to embrace a truly meaningful life.
If you are interested in working together please feel free to call or email me to schedule a free 15 minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit. Therapy sessions can be paid with American Express, Visa, Discover, Mastercard, Cash, Check, Paypal, Venmo or Zelle Bank transfer.
Before your therapy visit, check your coverage with our Peace of Mind Calculator, which estimates how much you'll be reimbursed once you hit your deductible or out-of-pocket max.
Remember superbills, those long invoices you got from your therapist? How about claim forms? You don’t need either of those. We’ll handle your claims electronically and file them for free.
Check the status of your claims with our free Client Portal, which gives you a real-time window into the reimbursement process so you don’t have to worry if the check is in the mail.
We handle your mental health insurance electronically and file your claims for free. We also track the status of your claims and ensure they are processed correctly so you don’t have to worry about paperwork or making frustrating phone calls.
We work with your therapist to obtain all the information needed to file your claims. Then we file them electronically each week.
You only need to make sure we have your most updated insurance information. You don’t need to do anything else!
Nirvana has a free tool called the Peace of Mind Coverage Calculator, which estimates your reimbursement amount at the start of the calendar year, when your deductible has been met, and when your out-of-pocket maximum has been reached. You only need to enter the name of the therapist you’d like to see, along with your name, date of birth, and insurance information.
Once you have met your deductible, your reimbursement will be mailed to you about 4-6 weeks from the date of your first eligible claim. In some cases, this process can take as long as 90 days.
Your reimbursement will be mailed to the address on file with your therapist and your insurer. We recommend verifying your address directly with your insurer.
You will receive your reimbursement by check. Some insurers combine payments for multiple sessions and others send one check per session.
Yes! We offer a free product called the Client Portal, which allows you to do exactly that. You may be invited by your therapist, but you can independently register here. With the client portal, you can view the exact status of your claims and reimbursements.
We’re glad to answer any questions you have. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and someone from our Help Desk will reach out to you.
