Whether you are new to therapy or continuing therapy and looking for a new counselor, I understand that transitions are difficult and being vulnerable can take a tremendous amount of courage. I hope to offer you the space where you can feel safe and supported during this transition. I believe that everyone has the opportunity for growth and that we all have the potential to live meaningful, happy lives if we let ourselves. Together, we can explore the challenges that you are facing, and I will provide you with the emotional support and encouragement that is sometimes needed to create positive change.

I am currently completing my masters in Mental Health Counseling at Fordham University. My interests are in anxiety-related disorders, OCD, complex and generational trauma, women’s issues, and grief. I have experience in geriatric mental health therapy, ranging from age related grief/anxiety to significant cognitive impairments such as dementia. I also have group facilitation training in grief counseling, as well crisis management training.

I have also contributed to non-profit work, providing grief counseling services to children and families. I prefer a holistic approach to therapy, with the belief that every client is unique and may benefit from a different approach. My therapeutic style is person-centered, with influences from both psychodynamic therapy and CBT. I have also contributed to research on the benefits of mindfulness and meditation, and hope to incorporate this into my practice.

I enjoy traveling and experiencing new cultures. I'm enamored by the many ways people live and find joy in life and feel that sometimes leaving one’s comfort zone can be the best way to break old, unhealthy habits and open ourselves to new possibilities.

Struggle is inevitable in life. We may experience various hardships that take away from the joy that life has to offer. As difficult as the journey may be, you don’t have to go through it alone. We can work together to help heal old pain and cope with current stressors and future uncertainty. I will meet you wherever you’re at on your journey.

What can Nirvana do for me?

We handle your mental health insurance electronically and file your claims for free. We also track the status of your claims and ensure they are processed correctly so you don’t have to worry about paperwork or making frustrating phone calls.

How does Nirvana’s mental health billing service work?

We work with your therapist to obtain all the information needed to file your claims. Then we file them electronically each week.

What do I need to do for Nirvana’s service to work for me?

You only need to make sure we have your  most updated insurance information. You don’t need to do anything else!

Can I check how much I will be reimbursed for therapy?

Nirvana has a free tool called the Peace of Mind Coverage Calculator, which estimates your reimbursement amount at the start of the calendar year, when your deductible has been met, and when your out-of-pocket maximum has been reached. You only need to enter the name of the therapist you’d like to see, along with your name, date of birth, and insurance information.

Once I start therapy, when will I be reimbursed?

Once you have met your deductible, your reimbursement will be mailed to you about 4-6 weeks from the date of your first eligible claim. In some cases, this process can take as long as 90 days.

Where will my reimbursement be sent?

Your reimbursement will be mailed to the address on file with your therapist and your insurer. We recommend verifying your address directly with your insurer.

How will I receive my reimbursement?

You will receive your reimbursement by check. Some insurers combine payments for multiple sessions and others send one check per session.

Can I track the progress of my claims as you process them?

Yes! We offer a free product called the Client Portal, which allows you to do exactly that. You may be invited by your therapist, but you can independently register here. With the client portal, you can view the exact status of your claims and reimbursements.
