Hello! My name is Jessica Behr, and I am a Psychologist based out of New York City.
Most people seek therapy when they are unhappy with one or more aspects of their lives. Whether you are struggling with work, love, family or self – you might be wondering, what will really help? I believe that understanding yourself is a great gift and a power. We as people are complicated beings. It takes effort and focused attention to parse out our complexity. It takes will and bravery to face ourselves; our lives, our pasts, presents and futures. It also takes intention to appreciate our strengths and recognize the areas that need strengthening.
I specialize in helping adults and teens with relationship issues, anxiety, and depression. I’m also trained to help individuals, couples, and groups deal with coping skills, family conflict, pregnancy (prenatal and postpartum), mood disorders, personality disorders, self esteem, stress, and trauma and PTSD.
A few therapies I utilize in my practice include Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Compassion Focused, Integrative, Interpersonal, Psychoanalytic, and Psychodynamic. I will help you to discover what aspects of your current life and functioning are working well and what aspects no longer serve you. I offer both in-person and teletherapy based on what works best for my client. Together we will explore what you want, why you want it, the obstacles in your way, and how to overcome them. We start where you are and work on your goals, paying special attention to your evolution over the course of treatment.

We handle your mental health insurance electronically and file your claims for free. We also track the status of your claims and ensure they are processed correctly so you don’t have to worry about paperwork or making frustrating phone calls.
We work with your therapist to obtain all the information needed to file your claims. Then we file them electronically each week.
You only need to make sure we have your most updated insurance information. You don’t need to do anything else!
Nirvana has a free tool called the Peace of Mind Coverage Calculator, which estimates your reimbursement amount at the start of the calendar year, when your deductible has been met, and when your out-of-pocket maximum has been reached. You only need to enter the name of the therapist you’d like to see, along with your name, date of birth, and insurance information.
Once you have met your deductible, your reimbursement will be mailed to you about 4-6 weeks from the date of your first eligible claim. In some cases, this process can take as long as 90 days.
Your reimbursement will be mailed to the address on file with your therapist and your insurer. We recommend verifying your address directly with your insurer.
You will receive your reimbursement by check. Some insurers combine payments for multiple sessions and others send one check per session.
Yes! We offer a free product called the Client Portal, which allows you to do exactly that. You may be invited by your therapist, but you can independently register here. With the client portal, you can view the exact status of your claims and reimbursements.
