Hello! My name is Gavin Shafron, and I am a Psychologist based out of New York City. I’ve been in practice for 9 Years, and am an alumni of The California School of Professional Psychology, San Francisco.
Especially for some of the most successful among us, we can hold ourselves to the highest standards of performance in all areas. I work with individuals and couples to help unlock what holds them back to gain an understanding of how our histories shape our present, while building a foundation of skills in the here-in-now to promote healing and a future that is self-defined.
My approach is solution-focused and uses elements of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy to identify and build on your strengths. As a Substance Abuse Specialist, I also help individuals transform their relationships with substances and behaviors that feel out of control.

Costs for each therapy session are on a sliding scale ranging from $250 - $275, and can be paid with American Express, Discover, Mastercard, Visa, Check, ACH Bank transfer, Wire, or a Health Savings Account. I accept the following insurance plans: Aetna (out of network), EmblemHealth (out of network), GHI (out of network), Health First (out of network), Out of Network Reimbursement, SAG-AFTRA (Out of Network), UnitedHealth (out of network), or a Bill to insurance OON benefits.

Remember superbills, those long invoices you got from your therapist? How about claim forms? You don’t need either of those. We’ll handle your claims electronically and file them for free.

We work with your therapist to obtain all the information needed to file your claims. Then we file them electronically each week.
You only need to make sure we have your most updated insurance information. You don’t need to do anything else!
Nirvana has a free tool called the Peace of Mind Coverage Calculator, which estimates your reimbursement amount at the start of the calendar year, when your deductible has been met, and when your out-of-pocket maximum has been reached. You only need to enter the name of the therapist you’d like to see, along with your name, date of birth, and insurance information.
Once you have met your deductible, your reimbursement will be mailed to you about 4-6 weeks from the date of your first eligible claim. In some cases, this process can take as long as 90 days.
Your reimbursement will be mailed to the address on file with your therapist and your insurer. We recommend verifying your address directly with your insurer.
You will receive your reimbursement by check. Some insurers combine payments for multiple sessions and others send one check per session.
Yes! We offer a free product called the Client Portal, which allows you to do exactly that. You may be invited by your therapist, but you can independently register here. With the client portal, you can view the exact status of your claims and reimbursements.
