Hello! My name is Desiree Taranto. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based out of New York City, and a Long Island University alumni.
Maybe you often find yourself stuck in the past, unable to let go of what’s happened. Maybe you’re struggling to build meaningful relationships. Maybe it’s hard to believe in yourself and find confidence in who you are. This leaves you feeling anxious and drained; lacking energy to live your life. Life is hard--but together we can make it easier. I can be that person who you can pour your heart out to, without fear of judgment. I want to know what makes you, you. I’m ready to help empower you to make positive changes in your life.
I specialize in helping people of Hispanic or Latino background deal with anxiety
coping skills, and Borderline Personality. I am also trained to help individuals, couples, and groups deal with depression, domestic abuse, grief, relationship issues, self esteem, stress, substance use, and trauma and PTSD. I have experience working with people diagnosed with mood disorders and personality disorders, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.
A few therapies I utilize in my practice include: Dialectical (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy, The Gottman Method, and Psychodynamic Therapy. Through our work, you can learn to live in the present and find acceptance of the things you cannot control. You can change the way you think about and react to your life’s circumstances. By the end of therapy, you’ll rediscover happiness.
There’s light at the end of the tunnel. Together we can find it. The first step is to call or e-mail for a free 15 minute phone consultation. We can answer any questions you may have and help you schedule an appointment.
Costs for each session are on a sliding scale, and can be paid with American Express, Discover, Mastercard, Visa, or a Health Savings Account. I accept HealthFirst insurance plans.
Before your therapy visit, check your coverage with our Peace of Mind Calculator, which estimates how much you'll be reimbursed once you hit your deductible or out-of-pocket max.
Remember superbills, those long invoices you got from your therapist? How about claim forms? You don’t need either of those. We’ll handle your claims electronically and file them for free.
Check the status of your claims with our free Client Portal, which gives you a real-time window into the reimbursement process so you don’t have to worry if the check is in the mail.
We handle your mental health insurance electronically and file your claims for free. We also track the status of your claims and ensure they are processed correctly so you don’t have to worry about paperwork or making frustrating phone calls.
We work with your therapist to obtain all the information needed to file your claims. Then we file them electronically each week.
You only need to make sure we have your most updated insurance information. You don’t need to do anything else!
Nirvana has a free tool called the Peace of Mind Coverage Calculator, which estimates your reimbursement amount at the start of the calendar year, when your deductible has been met, and when your out-of-pocket maximum has been reached. You only need to enter the name of the therapist you’d like to see, along with your name, date of birth, and insurance information.
Once you have met your deductible, your reimbursement will be mailed to you about 4-6 weeks from the date of your first eligible claim. In some cases, this process can take as long as 90 days.
Your reimbursement will be mailed to the address on file with your therapist and your insurer. We recommend verifying your address directly with your insurer.
You will receive your reimbursement by check. Some insurers combine payments for multiple sessions and others send one check per session.
Yes! We offer a free product called the Client Portal, which allows you to do exactly that. You may be invited by your therapist, but you can independently register here. With the client portal, you can view the exact status of your claims and reimbursements.
We’re glad to answer any questions you have. Email us at email@example.com and someone from our Help Desk will reach out to you.
