Hello! My name is Cathay Che, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based out of New York City. I’ve been in practice for over 20 years, and received my Masters in Social Welfare from The University of California, Berkeley. I also did my Cognitive Behavioral Therapy training at The Palo Alto Veterans Administration Medical Center and Stanford University.
People often come to therapy with a common complaint — “Why aren’t I happier?” This can be particularly confusing if you’ve worked long and hard to craft a life your younger self would be thrilled about. So why is it a struggle to fully inhabit your life, to be comfortable in your own skin and enjoy the ride? Why can’t you feel more relaxed, secure and like you belong? What is getting in the way of you feeling like you are worthy, deserving and just inherently “good enough”?
The reasons your internal reality doesn’t match your external one are part of the mystery that lies within. My job is to help you navigate yourself mentally and physically in order to solve that mystery, and gain a true understanding of yourself and the person you want to be in this world.
Therapy is the adventure that allows you to connect with those unarticulated beliefs and consciously decide if they still resonate. My role as your therapist will be to help you with that. How? We’ll talk and I’ll try to ask just the right questions. Sometimes it will feel hard. But I hope that it will also feel like support and encouragement as you grow, adapt and integrate all of who you are.
If this sounds like an ideal therapeutic relationship, and you are interested in working together, please email or call me to schedule a free 15 minute consultation to see if we are a good fit.
Before your therapy visit, check your coverage with our Peace of Mind Calculator, which estimates how much you'll be reimbursed once you hit your deductible or out-of-pocket max.
Remember superbills, those long invoices you got from your therapist? How about claim forms? You don’t need either of those. We’ll handle your claims electronically and file them for free.
Check the status of your claims with our free Client Portal, which gives you a real-time window into the reimbursement process so you don’t have to worry if the check is in the mail.
We handle your mental health insurance electronically and file your claims for free. We also track the status of your claims and ensure they are processed correctly so you don’t have to worry about paperwork or making frustrating phone calls.
We work with your therapist to obtain all the information needed to file your claims. Then we file them electronically each week.
You only need to make sure we have your most updated insurance information. You don’t need to do anything else!
Nirvana has a free tool called the Peace of Mind Coverage Calculator, which estimates your reimbursement amount at the start of the calendar year, when your deductible has been met, and when your out-of-pocket maximum has been reached. You only need to enter the name of the therapist you’d like to see, along with your name, date of birth, and insurance information.
Once you have met your deductible, your reimbursement will be mailed to you about 4-6 weeks from the date of your first eligible claim. In some cases, this process can take as long as 90 days.
Your reimbursement will be mailed to the address on file with your therapist and your insurer. We recommend verifying your address directly with your insurer.
You will receive your reimbursement by check. Some insurers combine payments for multiple sessions and others send one check per session.
Yes! We offer a free product called the Client Portal, which allows you to do exactly that. You may be invited by your therapist, but you can independently register here. With the client portal, you can view the exact status of your claims and reimbursements.
We’re glad to answer any questions you have. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and someone from our Help Desk will reach out to you.
